Ramblin

Back from the ECMAs in Charlottetown yesterday afternoon, and immediately started to empty out the Velvet Underground.

My body aches from the Plaskett show (complete with bruises!!) and I am tired in the marrow of my bones.

Last night I slept at Park Vic. Collapsed into bed and died for nine hours is more accurate.

Today is the final push - by tonight this place will be shining and empty, and I will get back to the books. Everything has been so whirlwind for the past couple of weeks, I haven't really had any opportunity for reflection. I'm looking forward to being settled somewhere again.

Family Affairs

Wilsons at the K Club, originally uploaded by c.e.s..

The Khyber was hopping all weekend with the Dead of Winter Festival. I missed it all, except for Sunday night where Matt Mays & Joely headlined as "special guests"... it was a reunion of kin, in every sense of the word.

Home Again

My (incredibly drunk) landlord just called to let me know that I can have the place across the hall on April 1st. Guaranteed. No rental increases ever.

FURTHERMORE, the minute the Velvet Underground is vacant, I can move back in at the current rent rate, with no rental increases ever.

Man, is he ever drunk. But I wrote it all down, and told him I was holding him to it.

Spring Break!

Constant Change

YWCA Gone, originally uploaded by c.e.s..

I took this shot from Hollis Street, looking through the vacant lot of the YWCA up to the grey house that I used to live in on Barrington Street.

I'm on the move again, but don't know where I'm going. Packing boxes entails going through lots of old crap. I read things I have written in the past, where I muse over major changes, and express repeatedly, over many years and many changes "this is the first time I have been so aware of change as it is happening". Liar. This sentiment is repeated as far back as 15 years ago, and is echoed as recently as 2005.

Now it dawns on me, finally. Change is constant.

I've been devouring a locals thread about the former punk scene. It's fascinating stuff. And somebody mentioned how this neighborhood will be a thing of the past in 2 years. It will be "developed", they said.

Then I remembered that I have a digital camera. I'm not going to forget why I love it here.
